Requirements for Maximum Design Capacity

The maximum design capacity for two Monster Brackets supporting one load is 750 lbs. This capacity can be achieved if the following construction practices are followed:

  • Two (2) Monster Brackets supporting one load on one or more shelves

  • Both brackets are secured to a wall stud with two (2) 3/8" lag screws per bracket; said screws achieving a minimum of 3" penetration each into the wall stud

  • Wall mounted shelf ledgers are secured to the wall studs with 3/8" lag screws with washers at 16" on center, said screws achieving a minimum of 3" penetration each into the wall studs

  • 1/2" minimum plywood shelving; said shelving fasted to both the wall mounted ledger and the outer ledger with GRK #8 2.5" screws, or equal

  • Lower hanging shelves hung by a minimum of 3/8" threaded rod with nuts, washer, and fender washer top and bottom.

Note: Ledgers that are the support beams for the shelves are shown as 2' x 4' lumber (but larger lumber may be used). Purchasers and/or installer are solely responsible for load calculation, the spacing of brackets, and sizing of structural lumber.
